‘No hesitation’ Defector issues nuclear warning as Putin’s hand lingers over red button | World | News

Alex Konanykhin left Russia in 1992 and 7 years later grew to become the primary Russian citizen to be granted political asylum within the United States from post-Soviet Russia. Earlier this month, the businessman introduced by way of social media he’s providing a reward of $1 million for the arrest of Putin. He advised his motives for doing this have been as a result of he doesn’t need to be “confused for most Russians who either actively supported or are silently complicit in Putin’s war against Ukraine”. Mr Konanykhin’s social media submit acquired tens of millions of likes and large media consideration.

The Russian defector has been warning of the risks of the Putin regime for a few years and in 2014 began a petition calling on the White House to designate Russia as a “State Sponsor of Terrorism”.

Mr Konanykhin stated he believes that the battle in Ukraine escalating to nuclear conflict is “not as unlikely as we would like to think”.

To date, the one use of nuclear weapons in the course of the battle was in 1945 when the US dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, three weeks in the past Putin stated that he was transferring his nuclear weapons to “combat ready” standing.

This has raised issues that the Kremlin might use “tactical” nuclear weapons.

The defector added that the West’s worry of a world conflict is strictly why Putin invaded Ukraine within the first place – as a result of he thought that Western international locations could be too scared to intervene.

However, he added that the West’s determination to ship navy tools to assist Ukraine and to impose sanctions on Russia is as a result of Western leaders recognise that “risks created by inaction are significantly greater than the risk of action.”

Mr Konanykin stated that using nuclear weapons is not going to be an “easy decision for Putin”.

However, he added: “If the only other scenario for Putin is losing power, freedom and possibly his life he will absolutely, with no hesitation use nuclear weapons on Ukraine.”
