Mum’s 89p hack saves her from having to buy daughter new school shoes

A mum has been hailed a “genius” after sharing the 89p hack that saved her from having to buy her daughter a new pair of school shoes after simply three weeks.

Veronique McDermott seen five-year-old Brooke’s black shoes had big scuffs on the toes which had taken away the coating and the mum was understandably reluctant to buy a new pair so quickly.

After she had tried to cover up the injury with nail polish and a Sharpie pen, Veronique found black electrical tape was good for the job – and says “not a single person has noticed” her home made restore, as reported by Manchester Evening News.

The DIY hack lasted ‘months’ and Veronique is now utilizing the identical restore once more to get much more life out of the £12 school shoes.

Sharing the thought with the 1.1 million members of the Family Lowdown Tips & Ideas Facebook group, she wrote: “When I bought my kid’s first pair of school shoes within three weeks she had damaged the toes which looked horrible but I couldn’t bring myself to buy another pair knowing the shoes still had loads of life in them.

“So I assumed I’d tape the toes with electrical wire tape. They lasted ages and I’ve now accomplished the second spherical on the identical pair. Ready to final hopefully one other few months!”

The mum posted before and after pictures of Brooke’s shoes and other members loved her solution, as one labelled the hack a “game-changer”.

And one other raved: “I’m on my third now at school and this is actual genius lol!! So simple and I’ve never thought to do this! Thank you!”

Veronique stated nobody had noticed her shoe restore and stated when she pointed it out they have been “all shocked at how it appears to be the original bought shoes”.

She added: “I was disgusted with the idea of throwing away nearly new shoes and thought of loads of different ways to rescue them.

“I attempted nail polish and Sharpie and it did not final or regarded actually apparent. I noticed the tape and thought to strive it and it regarded superb.

“When my friend asked if I could do the same with her daughters shoes I realised other mums might find it useful. So I shared on the group not expecting such a huge response.”
