Peter Kay announces comeback shows in aid of cancer charity | Theatre | Entertainment

British comic Peter Kay has damaged his lengthy silence and introduced a return to performing with two reside Q&A (question and answer) classes later this year. His Twitter account posted the information that the 2 Q&A classes will likely be hitting the stage in August of this year in aid of a brain cancer charity known as Doing It For Laura.

Peter’s tweet learn: “Peter Kay will be performing two very special live Q&A’s in aid of Laura Nuttall at Manchester O2 Apollo on 7th Aug 21. Tickets go on sale on this Friday (30th July) at 9am.”

The announcement got here with hyperlinks to the place followers may purchase tickets, in addition to a hyperlink to the charity organisation, which aids Laura Nuttall, a terminally in poor health 21-year-old girl with brain cancer.

Laura’s mom, Nicola Nuttall, posted on the official Facebook account for the charity: “Still can’t believe this actually happening!

“So extremely grateful to Peter for doing this and simply can’t await August 7.”

Both of the events will be held at the Manchester O2 Apollo venue.

The Max and Paddy’s Road to Nowhere star has been performing stand up comedy and sketch shows since 1996, after making a name for himself with hit TV show Phoenix Nights.

Peter stepped down from performing in every capacity in 2017.

The comic was due to go on a UK and Ireland tour titled Have Gags, Will Travel from 2018 to summer 2019 before he cancelled the entire event.

Peter said on December 13, 2017: “Due to unexpected household circumstances, I deeply remorse that I’m having to cancel all of my upcoming work initiatives.

“This unfortunately includes my upcoming standup tour, Dance for Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments.

“My sincerest apologies. This resolution has not been taken frivolously and I’m positive you will perceive my household should all the time come first.”

The star was due to make a triumphant return in May 2020 with a series of Dance For Life shows.

The shows were planned to raise money for Cancer Research UK and were going to take place in Manchester, Liverpool and London.

Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the shows were cancelled.

In the past decade Peter became best known for his BBC show Peter Kay’s Car Share.

He starred in the two-person show alongside Sian Gibson.

The show won Best Comedy at the 2016, 2018 and 2019 National Television Awards, as well as the BAFTA TV Awards for Best Male Comedy Performance and Best Scripted Comedy at the 2016 awards ceremony.

The show returned in April 2020 in audio form to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines.

Tickets for Peter Kay’s shows will be available Friday at 9am on Ticketmaster.
