Only Fools And Horses actor John Challis has died “peacefully in his sleep, after a long battle with cancer”.

The star, who was greatest recognized for enjoying Terrance ‘Boycie’ Boyce within the sitcom, was 79.

His household shared the unhappy information of his dying.

John may also be remembered for his roles in Only Fools spin-off The Green Green Grass and Benidorm.

He started his TV career in 1967, starring within the likes of The Newcomers and Z-Cars.

Over the years, he additionally appeared in Coronation Street, The Sweeney, Doctor Who, Open All Hours and numerous different exhibits.

He starred in just a few films in his time too, most lately in Dream and Subterrain in 2001.

John’s household stated in a press release: “It is with heavy hearts that we bring you such sad news.

“Our pricey pal and yours, John Challis, has died peacefully in his sleep, after a protracted battle with cancer.

“He will always be loved for being ‘Boycie’ and leaves a great legacy of work that will continue to bring pleasure and smiles for many years to come.

“Please respect the privateness of John’s household and pals at this troublesome time, and be assured that sooner or later there might be an event to have a good time John’s life – when everybody might be welcome to come back alongside.”

They also said that donations in his memory can be made to his chosen animal charities Cuan Wildlife Rescue, Tusk or the British Hedgehog Preservation Society.

Their assertion added: “As Boycie would have said… you know it makes sense!”

Earlier this month, it was introduced that John had been pressured to cancel a number of of his tour dates attributable to his unwell well being.

He had been recognized with cancer in 2019.

After the unhappy information of his dying broke, tributes started pouring in.

The Three Degrees singer Sheila Ferguson tweeted: “I’ve been ready for this for just a few days now.

TV channel Gold posted: “We are saddened that the fantastic John Challis who performed Boycie so brilliantly in Only Fools and Horses and The Green Green Grass has handed away at 79. We adored working with John and will all the time treasure his on-screen brilliance. Our ideas are together with his household and pals.”

John acquired a lot pleasure from enjoying Boycie in Only Fools, which he starred in alongside Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst.

He had launched two autobiographies charting his career, known as Being Boycie and Boycie & Beyond.

Charles married fourth spouse Carol in Brighton in 1995. He did not have any youngsters.
