Cillian Murphy breaks silence to join Helen Macri’s tribute to Peak Blinders stars

Cillian Murphy has joined the stars of Peaky Blinders, who announced that the much-loved actress died at the age of 52 to pay tribute to Helen Macrory.

Homeland actor Damian Lewis told fans that his ‘beautiful wife’ had lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at home with his family.

Many of Helen’s friends and former co-stars spoke to share her condolences and to remember Helen for her incredible work on stage and screen.

Peak Binders star Cillian, who worked with Helen for several years on the hit BBC show, has joined those who pay her respects.

In a statement to the PA news agency, Murphy, who plays Tommy Shelby in the draw, said: “I am broken to lose my dear friend.

“Helen was a beautiful, caring, funny, kind person.

“She was also a talented actor – fearless and brilliant. He elevated and humanized every scene, every character.

He said, “It is a privilege for me to work with this wonderful lady, who shares so much laughter over the years.

“I will miss my palace very much.” My love and thoughts are with Damian and his family. “

Sam Neill, who also starred in the crime drama, tweeted: “Goodbye. Destroyed my friend #HelenMcCrory. That fabulous woman – the greatest of actors.”

“I loved his time at #PeakyBlinders so much. He was funny, kind, efficient. Riot funny .. and so very quiet. So young. Damien + heartbroken for his family.”

The official Twitter account of Peaky Blinders also paid tribute to the actress who played the matriarch aunt Polly Gray on the show.

“All our love and thoughts are with Helen’s family. Be at peace,” shared the team.



Peaky Blinders includes Charlie Strong (Ned Denhai), Finn Shelby (Harry Kirton), Ada Shelby (Sophie Rundle), Johnny Dogs (Packy Lee), Aunt Polly Gray (Helen McCorry).

Actor Michael Sheen, who worked with Macroni in the ITV drama quiz in 2019, also spoke on social media.

“So funny, so passionate, so smart and one of the greatest actors of our time,” he tweeted.

“From the first moment I met him when we were just kids, obviously he was very special.

“It was an honor to work with him and get to know him. Damian and his family are very much loved. Heartbreaker. “

Helen is survived by Damian Lewis and her two children Manon and Gulliver.
