Dover traffic hell as cars queue for six hours after French only open TWO passport gates | UK | News

The disruption started yesterday (May 28) when travellers have been met with extraordinarily busy roads and cancelled Easyjet flights forward of their half-term holidays.

Now it has only gotten worse as French border police open simply two passport gates to take care of the incoming travellers.

P&O Ferries stated delays have been “out of their control” as the border controls have been operated by French border police.

In a press release the Port of Dover stated the scenario was more likely to stay in place for “a number of hours”.

It stated: “The Port is working with its French counterparts to move tourist traffic through the Border Controls as quickly as possible.

“The Port may be very busy working with all of the Ferry Operators to minimise delays as soon as by means of the Border Controls.”

Infuriated travellers have blasted the “dangerous organisation” of the French border control.

One described it as a “whole outrage”, adding they had been queuing for three hours and expected even more.

Another said they had been “ready virtually two hours and have already missed our ferry”.

They described the situation as “significantly dangerous organisation”.

In addition to delays at border control, the Port of Dover warned that it had seen tourists arriving without tickets.

It added: “The Port may be very busy and is seeing vacationers arriving with out tickets. Please don’t journey to the Port of Dover except you might have a booked ticket for journey.

“Your Ferry Operator will put you on their next available sailings.”
